About The Position

Poplar Springs Hospital is a 183-bed acute care and residential facility that has been providing behavioral and psychological treatment for adults and adolescents for over 30 years. Our facility offers programs for adults and adolescents, including acute programs and adolescent residential programs, as well as programs for active duty military. Located in Petersburg, Virginia, our serene, nature-like setting on 25 acres offers patients a sense of calm and peace, providing a nurturing environment for adults and adolescents to flourish. We have a new opening for a Part-time Pharmacy Tech. The part-time Pharmacy Tech will assist the Pharmacist with the day-to-day operation of the pharmacy by making rounds to pick up orders, logs and data control sheets, restocking the night pharmacy, filling orders from floor stock and labeling/restocking unit dose medications. The role involves performing stock maintenance, placing orders, restocking with incoming orders, and logging controlled substances. The Pharmacy Tech will maintain accurate and adequate records and conduct audits as requested. The position requires the ability to identify both internal and external customers and support the hospital mission. Other duties as assigned. Hours will vary, and applicants need to have flexibility with their availability.

Requirements

  • Sufficient combination of education and experience required to fulfill job tasks and responsibilities.
  • Must be licensed and registered with Board of Pharmacy.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age per Commonwealth of Virginia Interdepartmental Regulation of Children’s Residential Facilities.
  • Must have patience, tact, and a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm.
  • Good communication skills; must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Basic clerical skills, basic experience with office equipment (telephone, copy machine, fax, etc.).
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to problem solve and accept feedback when circumstances warrant such actions.
  • Willingness to interact with patients with varying levels of cognitive functioning.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years practical experience in hospital pharmacy preferred.
