About The Position

Salt Lake Behavioral Health is seeking a team player for our Pharmacy Technician Position working on a Full-Time basis. Salt Lake Behavioral Health is a private 118 bed freestanding psychiatric hospital specializing in mental health and substance abuse treatment for adults. Our mission is to transform lives through exceptional patient care. The Pharmacy Technician supports daily pharmacy operations under the direct supervision of a licensed Pharmacist. This role assists with medication preparation, distribution, inventory management, and documentation to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant pharmaceutical services across the facility. The position plays a key operational role in maintaining medication availability, supporting nursing units, and ensuring safe handling and delivery of medications in accordance with regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • High School graduate.
  • Vocational/Technical School Graduate.
  • A minimum of one (1) years hospital pharmaceutical experience is recommended.
  • Currently licensed as a Pharmacy Technician in Utah.
  • A working knowledge of Joint Commission Standards, OSHA regulations, and state and federal laws and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Appropriately fill and label all drug containers issued to service departments.
  • Deliver patient unit dose medication cassettes to the nursing units.
  • Deliver new medications and pick up new treatment orders from each unit on a regular basis.
  • Repackage unit dose medications for dispensing when the manufacturer does not provide unit dose packaging.
  • Fill controlled substance counters for the nursing units.
  • Check after hour’s unit dose back up logs and replace the stock after the order is verified by the pharmacist.
  • Under direct pharmacist supervision, fill orders for inpatient.
  • Place orders for medications (when necessary) from designated vendors/wholesalers.
  • Perform nursing station inventories and replenishes the stock if needed on a regular basis.
  • Check and price the merchandise received.
  • Coordinate the return of all outdated medications to the appropriate manufacturer or wholesaler.
  • Submit medication invoices for the Pharmacy department purchases as required.
  • Assist in all other distribution, procurement and clinical functions within the pharmacy.
  • Demonstrate appropriate judgment in communicating with physicians/licensed practitioner, nurses and other facility staff.
