About The Position

Under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist or dispensing prescriber and in accordance with standard departmental procedures, the licensed Pharmacy Technician I / II / III will perform activities and functions they are authorized to do, including assisting in dispensing, safe storage, and distribution of drugs and devices. The role must adhere to the organizational policies, procedures, code of ethics, and all licensing and accreditation standards. The Pharmacy Technician I / II / III must represent the organization’s mission in all actions and communications.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required.
  • Michigan Pharmacy Technician license required.
  • Basic Life Support/CPR training as required by licensure or certification.
  • Minimum of three months of Pharmacy Technician or related experience required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties.
  • Ability to read and interpret medication orders written by physicians.
  • Strong mathematical skills to perform medication-related computations.

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is highly preferred and strongly valued in this customer-facing role.

Responsibilities

  • Perform duties assigned by a licensed pharmacist or dispensing prescriber.
  • Ensure all work is checked regularly for quality control, following the standards of practice as outlined in the department operations manual.
  • Complete training to gain basic knowledge of pharmacy operations, drug therapies, medication calculations, and preparation of medications for patient use.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and ensure documentation is completed and up-to-date.
  • Prepare prescriptions in compliance with pharmacy law and practice standards.
  • Participate in pharmacy technician meetings, exchanging ideas to achieve department goals.
  • Keep the pharmacy technician manual updated to train new personnel and provide quick references for specific jobs.
  • Regularly check and remove expired medications from stock to ensure safety.
  • Continue education through required continuing education courses and stay updated on policy changes.
  • Adhere to the Agency's compliance standards as outlined in the Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct, and Conflict of Interest Policy.
  • Stay informed of all relevant federal, state, and agency regulations, laws, and policies, including modifications.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
