About The Position

Support pharmacy operations in a clinical setting. This role involves assisting pharmacists in managing medication therapy, maintaining patient records, and ensuring safe and effective medication use—while also helping patients access affordable medications through specialized programs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Current certification as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB)
  • Current state licensure/registration as required by applicable state pharmacy board.
  • Minimum of 1–2 years of experience as a pharmacy technician, preferably in a clinical or ambulatory care setting.
  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems, preferably Epic, and pharmacy information systems.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, prescription medications, and pharmacy calculations.
  • Understanding of federal and state regulations governing pharmacy practice.
  • Ability to review medication lists, assist with medication reconciliation, and support patient adherence programs.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and documentation skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, providers, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and comfort working with technology.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and organizational policies.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills with a patient-centered approach.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and patient care needs.
  • Commitment to continuing education and professional development.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician training program preferred.
  • Prior experience with medication therapy management (MTM), patient assistance programs, or direct patient support preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Function as support and resource for the Clinical pharmacists including but not limited to TCM, MTM, medication reconciliation, CMS and third party payer benchmarks, and patient medication adherence assistance.
  • Perform the basic functions for TCM including, but not limited to, contacting patients for status check, obtaining records, managing appointments, assisting with medication reconciliation, and record development/reporting.
  • Conduct medication reconciliation by reviewing patient records
  • Support clinical interventions and medication therapy reviews
  • Communicate with healthcare providers and patients regarding prescriptions
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulatory standards
  • Assist patients in accessing medications with high cost or limited insurance coverage through various programs, such as: 340B Drug Pricing Program, Sliding Fee Discount Programs, Patient Assistance Programs (PAPs)
  • Verify patient eligibility for PAPs and gather required documentation for applications
  • Follow up on pending PAP applications and communicate status updates to patients
  • Monitor and manage PAP medications, including completing paperwork to request manufacturer refills
  • Maintain accurate records of PAP inventory and ensure timely renewals

  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures
