About The Position

Assists the pharmacist in various aspects of pharmacy practice with the exception of clinical decision making. Per diem positions have no guaranteed hours or set schedule. The position will fill in for individuals who take unplanned and/or planned time off.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 18 years of age.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Registered with the Nevada State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician.
  • Ability to communicate with employees, physicians, patients and administrative staff in a courteous and professional manner.

Nice To Haves

  • One year hospital experience preferred.
  • Must register with the Nevada State Board of Pharmacy as Pharmaceutical Technician in Training upon hire.
  • Will participate in on-the-job training to acquire experience that is commensurate with the duties of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform medication reconciliations and accurately document the provided information.
  • Properly check narcotics into an automated dispensing system (Pyxis).
  • Accumulate charges using the pharmacy billing system.
  • Inventory Pyxis and resolve discrepancies.
  • Accurately order medications for the hospital and clinics.
  • Accurately prepare clinic orders.
  • Perform medication outdates accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Accurately deliver medications to the nurse and/or automated dispensing system.
  • Check patient specific bins daily and remove any medications that do not belong to the patient.
  • Empty the return bins of all automated dispensing systems daily.
  • Fill orders on the Pyxis fill sheets accurately, promptly and at the correct time.
  • Reorder medications and supplies using the pharmacy system.
  • Properly file invoices and purchase orders.
  • Prepack medications in accordance with federal and state law.
  • Accurately check the infusion center schedule and properly order the required medications.
  • Understand the workflow of Intravenous preparation.
  • Follow directions of the pharmacist on duty regarding the preparation of IV medications.
  • Comply with USP 797 and USP 800 requirements.
  • Deliver IV solutions to the correct location and at the specified time.
  • Report any past due, discontinued or outdated solutions or medications to the pharmacist on duty.
  • Retrieve and credit all unused IV solutions and medications that have been discontinued when applicable.
  • Complete chemotherapy preparation training and adhere to USP 800 standards and CVH policy.

Benefits

  • 15% will be added to the hourly rate in lieu of benefits due to 'per diem' status.
