We are looking to hire a Pharmacy Tech Supervisor! As a Pharmacy Tech Supervisor at MercyOne Genesis, you will: Provide leadership and supervisory oversight of inpatient pharmacy technician personnel including purchasing, medication preparation and distribution, on-boarding, managing performance, goal setting and measurement, and ongoing communication Fulfill the role of a technician in the Pharmacy department including, but not limited to sterile compounding, automation, delivery and preparation of medications as needed as this position will be required to staff as needed to ensure safe patient care Responsible for creating and maintaining a master and daily work schedule for pharmacy technicians and interns that effectively supports pharmacy services and adjust staffing and coordinate workflow as needed and considers fluctuations in workload and unplanned staff vacancies Will serve as the primary access coordinator for pharmacy students Serve, lead and contribute to committees within and outside the Pharmacy department where appropriate Perform annual employee evaluations for direct reports and holds staff accountable to performance improvement initiatives when necessary Work in collaboration with the pharmacy leadership team to train and schedule pharmacy interns and technicians participating in the ASHP Tech in Training Program Assist with the development and review of policies and procedures specific to the work and scope of practice of pharmacy technicians Monitor ongoing quality assessment programs relating to safe drug utilization, security, infection control, and professional practice consistent with TJC, ASHP, CMS, and the Iowa/Illinois Department of Licensing and regulation standards Assist in pharmacy department ordering, license maintenance, and reporting to agencies Assist pharmacy site leaders in controlled substance diversion monitoring Seeks opportunities to impact our Key Results and Cultural Beliefs to produce positive outcomes Maintain a positive working relationship with team members, medical personnel, and personnel from other departments Utilize Simplifi797 for required documentation for IV room suite Ensure staff complete all expected duties and responsibilities prior to leaving assigned shift and work area Problem-solving: -moving beyond just problem identification. Identifies and takes action to solve problems (5-Ys, waste eliminations and work orders) Responsible for promoting and role modeling a positive work environment and teamwork Adapt positively to the ever-changing healthcare environment by supporting and implementing needed changes Support team through challenging events within the department by maintaining a calm and positive manner Perform duties with flexibility, adapting to changing schedules as well as patient needs by prioritizing workload accordingly Assist with the development, implementation, training and auditing for standard work as well as assist with the development and continued updates of standard work for backup personnel Maintain required department confidentiality and abides by HIPPA regulations Provide competent patient care to the above indicated patient populations by obtaining and appropriately interpreting data, making appropriate decisions based on demonstrated knowledge of age-specific growth and development, and appropriately adapting procedures and treatments Support and abide by all medical center, departmental, and safety policies and procedures as well as proactively identify safety concerns surrounding the work environment Perform other responsibilities as requested by supervisor, manager or department head Maintain knowledge of current trends and developments in the practice of pharmacy

Requirements

  • Registration with the State of Iowa AND Illinois as a pharmacy technician
  • NCCA-accredited pharmacy technician certification
  • At least 5 years experience in pharmacy hospital operations
  • Drivers license
  • Minimum State of Iowa required car insurance

  • Previous pharmacy leadership experience (retail, LTC, or acute care)
