About The Position

This Pharmacy Technician position supports inpatient pharmacy operations within a 718-bed Level 1 Trauma Center, including a NICU and Children's Hospital. Technicians in this role are essential members of the healthcare team and directly contribute to safe, timely medication therapy for adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients. Responsibilities include central pharmacy operations such as accurately filling and packaging medications in accordance with established safety, regulatory, and hospital standards. Technicians in this role handle a high volume of medications and must understand common medication uses, recognize urgent or STAT needs, and prioritize workflow appropriately to support patient care. Technicians are also responsible for triaging incoming phone calls and inbasket messages, ensuring requests are routed promptly and accurately to the appropriate pharmacy team members. A core function of this position is the delivery of medications to Omnicell automated dispensing cabinets throughout inpatient units, ensuring nurses and clinical staff have timely access to the medications their patients need. Technicians are also responsible for conducting monthly inspections of automated dispensing cabinets and medication storage areas to ensure compliance, accuracy, and proper inventory management. This role requires a strong commitment to customer service, as technicians serve as a vital point of contact for nursing staff — working collaboratively with pharmacists, nurses, physicians, and other providers to resolve medication-related questions and facilitate timely delivery. This position is ideal for a technician who thrives in a fast-paced hospital environment, adapts well to changing priorities, and demonstrates strong critical-thinking skills.
