About The Position

Community Regional Medical Center provides central California with the highest level of care available in the region. We measure up with top hospitals nationally and are the 3rd largest in California! Our 685 beds is home to the only comprehensive Burn and Level I Trauma center between Los Angeles and Sacramento. With a full-service 58,000 square-foot Emergency Department, we are one of the largest and busiest in California. Requirements

  • High School Diploma, High School Equivalency (HSE) or Completion of a CHS Approved Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Certificate required
  • 2 years of experience in a pharmacy healthcare setting required
  • State of California Pharmacy Technician License required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the inpatient pharmacy setting with the ability to work with interdepartmental teams preferred
  • Experience working with sterile compounding preferred
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician preferred

Responsibilities

  • Leading a team of Pharmacy Technicians to support medication compounding services.
  • Providing support with medication compounding and repackaging, assuring procedures and proper documentation is followed in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
  • Training and leading staff with compounding procedures and techniques.
  • Assisting with creating and maintaining sterile and non-sterile compounding competencies for technicians.
  • Ensuring and enforcing technicians adhere to all applicable policies and procedures, providing timely performance feedback to leadership.
  • Developing work schedules and providing open shift coverage.
  • Functioning as a mentor and providing training and guidance.
  • Maintaining and storing all regulatory and department records according to the Board of Pharmacy, State and Federal regulations.
  • Initiating and participating in meetings, projects and optimization of procedures.
  • Assisting with filling in and performing the duties of a Pharmacy Technician and providing support in executing fundamental duties associated with other team leader roles within the department.
  • Coordinating and optimizing pharmacy compounding workflows and activities to ensure timely and accurate services.
  • Preparing Pharmacy Technician work schedules, assisting in providing open shift coverage and reporting time and attendance information to leadership.
  • Enforcing proper work flow and providing training, coaching and re-education for staff related to all pharmacy technician job duties and assignments, including sterile, non-sterile and hazardous compounding.
  • Promoting a collaborative and a cooperative work environment, improving inter- and intra-departmental relationships by utilizing communication, interpersonal relationships and team building.
  • Resolving issues within scope and participating in finding creative solutions to problems.
  • Assisting in ensuring that all applicable policies and procedures are followed.
  • Providing timely work performance feedback to leadership to evaluate and act upon accordingly.
  • Creating and maintaining sterile and/or non-sterile compounding competencies for personnel, including media fill and fingertip validations, math exams, cleaning competencies and any other required documents according to regulations and policies.
  • Assisting Pharmacy leadership in ensuring that drug compounding and repackaging records are maintained and properly stored.
  • Leading and participating in team huddles and various meetings.
  • Providing Pharmacy Technician orientation and training in conjunction with the Supervisor.
  • Facilitating and improving communication among other service area members outside the Department of Pharmacy.
  • Performing essential accountabilities described for the Pharmacy Technician position and providing support and assistance with executing fundamental duties of other Team Leader roles in the event of need.
  • Performing other job-related duties as assigned.
