About The Position

MercyOne Genesis serves a 17-county bi-state region of the Quad Cities (Davenport and Bettendorf, Iowa, and Rock Island and Moline, Ill.) metropolitan area and the surrounding communities of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois. As a Pharmacy Tech II at MercyOne Genesis, you will support outpatient pharmacy operations by assisting the pharmacist with prescription services across retail and specialty pharmacy settings, as assigned by location and role. You will perform duties under the supervision of the Pharmacist‑in‑Charge (PIC) and/or pharmacist on duty in accordance with organizational policies and applicable state board of pharmacy rules and regulations. Support for dispensing, billing, inventory, and sterile or non‑sterile pharmacy operations will be a key part of this role.

Requirements

  • Comprehensive knowledge of pharmacy technician operations, including prescription processing, advanced workflow support, insurance billing and claims troubleshooting, inventory control, and quality documentation
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • More than three (3) years of pharmacy technician experience
  • Current Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) status
  • Registered with the Iowa and/or Illinois Board of Pharmacy, as required by assigned practice location, within thirty (30) days of hire
  • Advanced technician proficiency and the ability to train and mentor others
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Valid driver’s license

Nice To Haves

  • Sterile compounding support training and cleanroom experience are preferred when assigned to locations with sterile compounding capabilities

Responsibilities

  • Support outpatient pharmacy operations by assisting the pharmacist with prescription services across retail and specialty pharmacy settings, as assigned by location and role
  • Perform duties under the supervision of the Pharmacist‑in‑Charge (PIC) and/or pharmacist on duty in accordance with organizational policies and applicable state board of pharmacy rules and regulations
  • Support for dispensing, billing, inventory, and sterile or non‑sterile pharmacy operations
  • Train and mentor others, including documenting competency completion and providing feedback under the direction of pharmacy leadership
  • Administer immunizations in accordance with organizational policy, state scope of practice, and applicable regulatory requirements (when assigned to designated community pharmacy locations and after obtaining required training/credentials within 6 months)
