About The Position

The Pharmacy Tech II ensures availability and delivery of medications to authorized locations/personnel. They maintain in-date inventory of medications, obtain accurate patient medication histories, prepare and repackage medications accurately, and record and charge supplies/medications to the correct patient/location.

Requirements

  • Active California Pharmacy Technician license.
  • 1 year of pharmacy tech experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated communication, project management, and computer literacy skills
  • Must possess strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities and perform in high-pressure situations

Responsibilities

  • Adheres to hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Complies with all requirements related to risk management, safety, security, fire, and infection control.
  • Complies with all applicable state, local and federal regulations
  • Answers phones
  • Attend pharmacy staff meetings/in-services
  • Check in and stock orders – Reorder as required
  • Comply with hospital policies
  • Credit returned meds
  • Deliver controlled substances
  • Deliver Meds/Rounds on hourly or as needed basis
  • Enter charges for manual billing needs
  • Fill meds to be checked by Staff Pharmacists
  • Inspect medication storage locations
  • Inventory and refill Floor Stock, Automated Dispensing Cabinets, and Emergency Trays
  • Maintain organized/accurate/sufficient inventory
  • Maintain safety-integrity-professionalism of pharmacy
  • Obtain accurate home medication histories by chart review, patient interview and phone calls to retail pharmacies and physician offices
  • Other functions as defined/delegated by Direct Supervisor
  • Prepare Accurate/Sterile IV orders
  • Repackage medications – ensure proper authorization
  • Other duties as assigned
