To assist the pharmacist in the daily functions of the pharmacy department. This role is responsible for assisting pharmacists in receiving, processing, and dispensing of all physicians' orders for medications, IV solutions and outpatient prescriptions. The Pharmacy Tech I also transports drugs and supplies to and from the pharmacy area to ensure the delivery of quality care according to established protocols and transport times. Training in aseptic technique and performing duties and responsibilities of an IV technician is preferred. The role also involves answering phones, attending to the window and doors, and loading/unloading the pneumatic tube system. Additionally, the Pharmacy Tech I assists in pulling out dates from the main pharmacy and automated dispensing cabinets, helps with stock replenishment, and maintains inventory. They work with pharmacists in performing monthly nursing stat tasks. The position adheres to hospital and departmental attendance and punctuality guidelines, performs all job responsibilities in alignment with the organization's core values, mission, and vision, and performs other duties as required and completes all job functions as per departmental policies and procedures. The role also requires maintaining current knowledge in present areas of responsibility through self-education and attending ongoing educational programs, attending staff meetings, and completing mandatory in-services, requirements, and competency evaluations on time. Demonstrates competency at all levels in providing care to all patients based on age, sex, weight, and demonstrated needs. For non-clinical areas, has attended training and demonstrates usage of age-specific customer service skills. Wears protective clothing and equipment as appropriate.
