Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent from a recognized State or Federal accrediting organization.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, strong interpersonal/communication skills, and customer service focus; attention to detail, ability to multitask and prioritize, math and computer proficiency.
  • GA Board of Pharmacy Technician License.

Nice To Haves

  • Vocational or technical training or degree in Pharm Tech certificate from an accredited school.
  • 2 years or more of experience in pharmacy as a technician (aseptic compounding, hospital practice).
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving ability, demonstrated commitment to safe medication practices, patient safety, evidence of self-motivation and the ability to work independently and within a team, flexibility, and able to accommodate changing priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Safely transports IV fluids, including dialysis fluids, to patient care areas ensuring all products are scanned according to hospital policy while ensuring completeness and accuracy of documentation per hospital standards.
  • Safely dispenses medications to patient care areas or other health care personnel ensuring all products are scanned according to hospital policy. Safely prepares medications for dispensing, sterile or non-sterile compounding while ensuring completeness and accuracy of documentation per hospital standards.
  • Manages the inventory of the pharmacy, including ordering/receipt, storage, and perpetual inventory (as applicable). Also maintains medication safety and regulatory compliance by monitoring expiration dates and corresponding documentation, ensuring adequate supplies on hand to meet current and projected future patient needs. Ensures temperatures are maintained and recorded per hospital policy.
  • Collaborates with other members of the Department of Pharmacy for performance improvement, customer service excellence and quality assurance (teamwork).
  • Obtains/maintains needed credentials and training for all roles. Turns in 100% of required medical center and departmental training documentation by assigned deadlines.
