About The Position

A certified pharmacy technician, under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, engage in various activities that do not require the exercise of professional judgment. These activities include database and patient profile management, label preparation, stocking and retrieving dangerous drugs, counting and pouring drugs, and compounding non-sterile and sterile drugs after site-specific training. The role also involves stocking automated drug storage systems, floor stock, and crash carts.

Requirements

• High School completion / GED
• Certified Pharmacy Technician through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB)
• Registration with the State of Ohio Board of Pharmacy as a “Certified Pharmacy Technician” or eligible for registration within 45 days of hire.
• Possess good interpersonal skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and problem solving skills
• Able to read and write printed material in English
• Proficiency with computer keyboard operations
• Ability to compute simple algebraic ratios, volume/volume percentage and weight/volume percentage
• Ability to troubleshoot problems and/or do minor maintenance on all pharmacy equipment, printers, computers and telecommunication equipment with adequate training in the pharmacy.
• Must be familiar with pharmacy software
• Possess ability to work well with other health care workers and perform as team member
• Flexibility in scheduling essential as mentor/trainer of new coworkers

Nice To Haves

• Completion of an ASHP/ACPE-accredited technician education and training program
• Prior hospital, long-term care or retail experience preferred
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications preferred

Responsibilities

• Entering information into and retrieving information from a database or patient profile
• Preparing and affixing labels
• Stocking dangerous drugs and retrieving those drugs from inventory
• Counting and pouring dangerous drugs into containers
• Placing dangerous drugs into containers prior to dispensing by a pharmacist
• Non-sterile drug compounding following the completion of site-specific training
• Sterile drug compounding following the completion of a site-specific training
• Stocking automated drug storage systems, floor stock, and crash carts
