About The Position

This role involves various pharmacy technician duties including data entry, prescription filling, inventory management, and medication history reconciliation. The technician will be responsible for ensuring patient safety and accurate medication administration by gathering and documenting patient medication histories. This includes interviewing patients, family, or caregivers, reviewing charts, and contacting pharmacies and physician offices. The technician will also identify and communicate errors in patient history and update the database. Additionally, they will collect medication histories for upcoming surgical patients via phone calls.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent
Indiana Pharmacy Technician license
National Accredited Certification
Two (2) years of Pharmacy Technician experience

Responsibilities

Data entry of prescriptions and insurance adjudication.
Fill medication orders for pharmacist review.
Place daily order with drug wholesaler, facilitate pick up of medications from other pharmacies, and stock pharmacy medications and supplies.
Maintain accurate logs pertaining to cleaning, refrigerator temperatures, etc. related to USP 797.
Verify received drug shipments against invoice, and stock shelves.
Return unused medication to stock or dispose of properly per policy.
Prepare compounded products, checked by pharmacist.
Other duties as assigned.
Collect medication history by interviewing the patient, family or caregiver, reviewing charts, & calling pharmacies & physician offices.
Identify errors in patient history & communicate with appropriate staff.
Update database.
Collect medication history for upcoming patients that are having surgery via phone calls.
