About The Position

The University of Miami UHealth at SoLé Mia has an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy Tech 2. This role involves collecting, inputting, and verifying prescription, refill, and patient information, as well as maintaining patient records. The Pharmacy Tech 2 will assist pharmacists in filling orders and preparing labels for unit doses and prepackaged pharmaceuticals, and will receive and stock incoming medical supplies and drugs. The position also includes assisting with compounding, participating in training programs and continuing education, and volunteering for extra assignments or cross-training. This role serves as an informal resource for less experienced technicians, provides support in training students and onboarding new pharmacy technicians, and acts as a mentor and role model. The Pharmacy Tech 2 will stay abreast of advanced knowledge in pharmacy dispensing, medication dispensing systems, controlled substance distribution, pre-packing, and other pharmacy technician duties, while adhering to University policies and safeguarding assets. This list of duties is not exhaustive and may be expanded as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • State of FL registration
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant experience
  • Skill in data entry with minimal errors.
  • Ability to accurately prepare and maintain records, files, reports and correspondence
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
  • Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
  • Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
  • Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.

Responsibilities

  • Collects, inputs, and verifies prescription, refill, and patient information and maintains patient records.
  • Assists pharmacists in filling orders and preparing labels for unit doses and prepackaged pharmaceuticals.
  • Receives and stocks incoming medical supplies and drugs.
  • Assists with compounding (didactic and/or basic hands-on).
  • Participates in assigned training program and continuing education activities to attain competency in different technician duty areas.
  • Volunteers for extra assignments and/or cross training in other department roles and responsibilities of a pharmacy technician.
  • May volunteer to participate in a temporary taskforce/short-term committee.
  • Acts as an informal resource for other technicians with less experience.
  • Provides support in the training of students and onboarding of new pharmacy technicians.
  • Serves as a mentor and role model.
  • Stays abreast of advanced knowledge and proficient practice in pharmacy dispensing, medication dispensing systems, controlled substance distribution to floors, pre-packing and any other pharmacy technician duties.
  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
