About The Position

The Pharmacy Student/Graduate Intern supports pharmacy operations and the pharmacist while delivering an outstanding customer experience and promoting Kroger’s Customer 1st strategy. The intern assists with pharmacy responsibilities that do not require a pharmacist’s professional judgment and must be able to perform the essential functions of a Pharmacy Certified Technician role.

The position supports pharmacy workflow, safety, training, and day-to-day service delivery. It includes accurate entry of patient information, post-fill audits, support for Medication Therapy Management services, and compliance with HIPAA, company policies, and applicable health and safety regulations. The role also helps train pharmacy associates and new technicians, and may represent the store at meetings or huddles.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of retail experience.
• Completion of national and/or state intern registration, certification, or licensure, depending on state requirements.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Enrolled in an accredited pharmacy school program.
• Certified or able to become certified in immunizations.

Responsibilities

• Perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Comply with and reinforce sanitation and safety regulations, guidelines, procedures, and programs; identify unsafe conditions and notify store management.
• Act as a pharmacy safety subject matter expert by recognizing opportunities and coaching associates as appropriate.
• Support workflow and pharmacist oversight through shift leadership, delegation of station rotation, and resolution of issues.
• Ensure department standards are executed by leading by example.
• Assist the pharmacist with responsibilities except those requiring a pharmacist’s professional judgment.
• Perform the essential job functions and tasks of a Pharmacy Certified Technician.
• Understand and adhere to HIPAA regulations and company policies.
• Support company Health and Wellness initiatives.
• Maintain current national and/or state registration, certification, or licensure as required by state regulations.
• Provide day-to-day training support for pharmacy associates and encourage, monitor, and assist new technicians in the technician training program.
• Serve as an alternative representative for store-wide meetings and huddles.
• Comply with local, state, and federal regulations and report illegal activity, including robbery, theft, or fraud.
• Follow company guidelines for electronic fund transactions, cash, and check transactions.
• Enter patient information accurately and efficiently, perform post-fill audits, and assist with providing and maintaining Medication Therapy Management services.
• Reinforce safety programs by following safety procedures, identifying unsafe conditions, practicing preventive maintenance, inspecting equipment, notifying store management about needed repairs, and reporting customer or employee accidents.
