About The Position

Nebraska Medicine is seeking a highly motivated clinical pharmacist to join our Acute Care Oncology Pharmacy Team to provide extraordinary oncology care to our patients at the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center. This role will support a large population of adult bone marrow transplant recipients as well as adults and pediatrics with acute oncology needs. This acute care oncology pharmacy specialist will serve as a key member of the inpatient oncology team with a dedicated opportunity to optimize medication therapy and advance evidence-based care in hematology, medical oncology, and stem cell transplant populations as oncology plans are facilitated throughout the afternoon and evening. This position will require a strong engagement in clinical practice, patient education, and quality improvement initiatives.

  • Graduate of an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accredited Doctor of Pharmacy degree program OR possess a Bachelor or Master of pharmacy degree with 10 years of experience required.
  • Licensed (or eligible for licensure) in the State of Nebraska or jurisdiction in which pharmacy practice is conducted required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required, must be from an American Heart Association (AHA) endorsed program, as deemed appropriate for patient facing roles and relevant to practice.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of an Oncology PGY2 or fellowship required OR Completion of a PGY1 plus a minimum of 3 years of experience as an oncology specialist.
  • Any candidates with PGY1 training and an oncology background are encouraged to apply.
  • Progress toward and obtaining board certification in oncology pharmacy (BCOP) would be encouraged within 2-3 years.
  • American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) accredited postgraduate year one residency preferred.
  • Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties (BPS) certification as deemed appropriate and relevant to practice preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Optimizing complex oncology medication regimens and ensuring safe, high-quality care
  • Collaborating with physicians, APPs, nursing, and care teams for patients transitioning in and out of the acute care environment.
  • Leading and support quality improvement and research initiatives
  • Precepting pharmacy students, PGY1, and PGY2 residents
  • Provide the highest quality patient care.
  • Supervise pharmacy services in assigned patient care area and ensure all medication related patient and care provider needs are met.
  • Work proactively as a member of a team(s) to ensure the provision of optimal pharmaceutical care.
  • Demonstrate a dedication to continual and constant quality improvement.
