About The Position

The Pharmacy Resident shall train to serve as a competent clinical pharmacist capable of practicing in multiple settings alone and as a multi-disciplinary team member with pharmacists, physicians, nurses, and other paramedical personnel. He/she shall provide clinical services involving Pharmacokinetics, TPN, Anticoagulation, and Critical Care Medicine employing pharmaceutical care precepts. He/she shall provide Ambulatory Care Pharmacy services to patients at PIH Medication Management Clinic and Family Practice Center including: Disease Management Clinic services, provision of drug information services to patients, physicians, and Family Practice clinic staff. He/she shall conduct Drug Utilization Evaluations (DUE’s), Quality Improvement projects, Performance Improvement projects, provide continuing education lectures, and prepare the Pharmacy Newsletter. He/she shall complete an approved project for presentation at the Western States’ Residency Conference. He/she shall successfully complete the Goals and Objectives outlined by ASHP for the Residency Program. Requirements

  • Ability to effectively communicate through verbal/written communications to the medical, nursing, and pharmacy staff.
  • Ability to write and relate medication information in a clear, concise, and professional manner as is appropriate for the Pharmacy Newsletter.
  • Master the provision of pharmaceutical care in the management of multiple disease states and apply them in the appropriate setting (i.e. hospital, ambulatory).
  • Critically think.
  • Gain knowledge of medication related policies/protocols utilized in a given setting.
  • Evidence of continuous professional training.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Ability to prioritize.
