Summary: Provides accurate, safe and cost effective drug distribution and clinical services through supervised efforts of supportive staff to patients of the hospital. Participates in a departmental training program to develop knowledge and skills needed to provide pharmaceutical care.

Requirements

  • Must have computer proficiency.
  • Must have ability to effectively speak, write and understand English language.
  • Must be able to work well with the pharmacy staff members, as well as with physicians, patients, nurses and other interdisciplinary healthcare personnel.
  • Doctorate of Pharmacy Degree from an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accredited College of Pharmacy or a College of Pharmacy granted Candidate status by ACPE.
  • Must have Florida Pharmacy Intern license by the start of the residency program.
  • Resident must be licensed as Florida Licensed Pharmacist prior to or within 90 days after the start of the residency program year.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a co-preceptor to students in learning experiences.
  • Develops and completes residency research project and other longitudinal assignments.
  • Presents at professional conference(s) as directed.
  • Meets with Residency Program Director or designee to evaluate progress and ensure program expectations are met.
  • Meets with preceptors or designee for education and evaluation of rotation goals and objectives.
  • Provides clinical and operational pharmacy services consistent with departmental policy and procedure.
  • Participates in staff development and educational programs including case presentations, journal clubs, continuing education, and other departmental educational projects.
  • Participates in interdisciplinary medical rounds and other meetings that occur for the services of assigned practice areas.
  • Competent in all clinical pharmacist roles and functions as assigned
  • Identifies and assists in developing professional practice patterns to recommend and implement clinical interventions.
