About The Position

The Pharmacy Purchasing Technician is responsible for the receipt of medications from wholesalers and vendors; ensuring an effective and accurate inventory of medications and supplies; fills and distributes interdepartmental requests for pharmaceuticals; assists with processing of medication recalls and outdated pharmaceuticals; and performs computer and clerical tasks with proficiency and accuracy. This individual will develop and maintain strong relationships with pharmacy staff, mayo clinic staff, wholesalers and vendors.

Requirements

  • Completion of two years post-secondary education and/or successful completion of an approved vocational Pharmacy Technician training program and at least six months of applicable experience as a Pharmacy Technician; or at least eighteen months of applicable experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
  • Effectively reads, writes, speaks and understands English.
  • Proven history of performing technical tasks and following written / verbal instructions.
  • Able to apply math and calculator skills along with a working knowledge of the metric system.
  • Possess strong telephone and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with the use of office software computer applications and keyboarding.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a busy environment and pay attention to detail.
  • Proven organizational and problem solving skills.
  • Proven ability to effectively work both independently and in a team environment.
  • No history of drug abuse or misuse; or proof of successful completion of a certified drug abuse rehabilitation program is required.
  • Current registration with the Board of Pharmacy in the state he/she is hired to work in where required by state regulation, or eligible to obtain.
  • National Pharmacy Technician Certification required.
