About The Position

This job works hand in hand with the specialty pharmacy team members, referring doctors, nursing staff, and care coordinators by completing prior authorizations on behalf of the prescriber. Works directly with patients to determine eligibility for medication and financial assistance programs. Ensures patients receive timely access to their prescribed medications. Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years experience as a Pharmacy Technician
  • Pharmacy Technician Certification in the state of practice
  • Computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information.
  • Proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.
  • Negotiation skills to assist the patient in navigation of the health care system.
  • Ability to maintain highly confidential and sensitive information.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Work independently and within a team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Specialty Pharmacy
  • Medication Therapy Management Certification (MTM) from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) must be obtained within 6 months of hire

Responsibilities

  • Completes prior authorizations.
  • Enrolls under/uninsured patients to appropriate patient assistance programs.
  • Communicates and acts as liaison between insurance company, patients, providers, and specialty pharmacy team.
  • Maintains documentation relative to the job.
  • Assumes responsibility for professional development and continued education.
  • Assists with special projects/ committees.
  • Performs all job duties in accordance with company Specialty Pharmacy policies and accrediting bodies.
  • Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
  • Other related duties as required.
