This position will be affiliated with Spectrum Medical Care Center (SMCC) under a separate business entity, PrideCare Rx. (This role will transition from Mesa to Phoenix, AZ starting in September 2026) SMCC is a non-profit healthcare organization based in Phoenix, Arizona, providing holistic, stigma-free care to all, with a long-standing and intentional focus on the LGBTQ+ and HIV+ communities. Do it One Team, One Community Relentless Improvement, Courageous Joy Pride in Every Person POSITION OVERVIEW: Pharmacy Manager: The Pharmacist is responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centered pharmaceutical care with a focus on medication therapy management, adherence support, and education. This role supports our commitment to LGBTQ+-affirming healthcare by ensuring patients feel respected, informed, and empowered in managing their medications. The Pharmacist collaborates closely with providers, medical staff, and care coordinators to ensure safe, effective, and culturally competent medication practices.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Pharmacy with equivalent experience required.
  • Active Arizona Pharmacist License in good standing.
  • Previous experience in clinical, outpatient, or specialty pharmacy strongly preferred.
  • Experience with HIV care, PrEP/PEP, hormone therapy, or LGBTQ+-affirming healthcare is a plus.
  • Excellent communication, counseling, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary care team.
  • Strong commitment to providing inclusive, culturally sensitive care.
  • Must be able to obtain an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card during background check process. (Required)

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of medication management for chronic and infectious diseases.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) and pharmacy management systems.
  • Understanding of insurance processes, prior authorizations, and patient assistance programs.
  • Ability to create a welcoming and affirming environment for diverse patient populations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive pharmaceutical care including medication dispensing, counseling, and patient education.
  • Review prescriptions for accuracy, interactions, contraindications, and appropriate dosing.
  • Support medication therapy management (MTM) programs and monitor patient adherence, especially for chronic conditions such as HIV, PrEP/PEP, hormone therapy, and behavioral health medications.
  • Collaborate with providers to optimize treatment plans and resolve medication-related issues.
  • Offer clinical guidance on medication protocols, formularies, and best practices.
  • Maintain accurate records in accordance with federal and state regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with Arizona Board of Pharmacy requirements and internal quality standards.
  • Provide culturally competent, affirming care to LGBTQ+ patients and those affected by HIV/AIDS.
  • Identify pharmacy performance trends and opportunities for improvement
  • Assist in managing inventory, ordering, and controlled substance logs.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, audits, and staff training as needed.
  • Support patients in navigating insurance coverage, prior authorizations, and medication assistance programs.
  • Manages pharmacy staff performance by overseeing the training of pharmacy staff (e.g., using the correct processes and tools) and conducting formal performance reviews
