About The Position

St. Mary's Medical Center is seeking a Full Time Pharmacy Manager. The Pharmacy Manager will function under the direction of the Director of Pharmacy and will manage the daily operations of the pharmacy including technical and pharmacist staff scheduling, training and evaluations, quality improvement initiatives, customer service, and spearheading special projects. In addition, the position will develop and enforce policies and procedures that promote cost-effective and safe medication use. The Pharmacy Manager must work closely with other members of the pharmacy team and support our enterprise services and initiatives. The Pharmacy Manager will be an effective liaison with other members of the healthcare team and within their assigned committees. This position will oversee the Department of Pharmacy in the absence of the Director.

Requirements

  • Must possess a pharmacist license (or eligible to obtain) in the States of West Virginia and Ohio.
  • Demonstrated competence and a high level of knowledge in all phases of pharmacy practice including intravenous admixture programs, as would typically be obtained in a minimum of two (2) years of a health system pharmacist is required.
  • Must possess a thorough knowledge of hospital organizational structures and health system pharmacy operations.
  • Must be familiar with organization and practice of Medical Center services and the regulations and policies of the institution, state, and federal regulatory bodies.
  • Must have good communication and organizational skills.
  • Must have strong attention to detail, understanding of pharmacy automation and IT processes, and project management skills.
  • Must be able to use good judgment in assessing situations and possess strong decision-making skills.
  • Follow high standards of personal and professional ethics and conduct.

Nice To Haves

  • A business degree (e.g., MHA or MBA) is preferred.
  • Residency training, especially in pharmacy leadership, is preferred.
  • Progressive experience in health system pharmacy leadership is preferred.
  • Experience in a pharmacy business practice is desirable.
  • Experience in the provision of clinical pharmacy practice and an educational program is desirable.
