About The Position

Cardinal Health's Health System Pharmacy is responsible for the safe, efficient, and effective coordination of pharmacy operations serving various healthcare settings, including acute care hospitals, hospital retail customers, ambulatory care, alternate site facilities, oncology and cardiology practices, and retail customers. The department provides customized pharmacy program solutions aimed at reducing costs and improving patient care quality for hospitals, health systems, and other integrated healthcare providers. They may also consult with and advise healthcare teams on prescribed medications, supplies, and related processes. Cardinal Health manages the pharmacy at PAM Rehabilitation Hospital of Overland Park and is currently recruiting for a Full-Time Pharmacy Manager. The operational hours are Monday-Friday, 8 AM to 4:30 PM. The Manager coordinates, directs, manages, facilitates, and oversees the execution and evaluation of all administrative and clinical activities. Through process optimization, this role ensures consistent and efficient delivery, controls costs, minimizes waste, optimizes customer relationships, and delivers positive patient outcomes while maintaining compliance with Federal and state regulatory agencies. This role is also responsible for maintaining inventory control and budget, staffing, monitoring staff activities, performance, and the achievement of individual and departmental goals.

Requirements

Bachelors degree in pharmacy or PharmD
Must be a “good standing” licensed Pharmacist and/or eligible for licensure in the state of Kansas required.
Ability to develop, implement and lead all aspects of pharmacy operation.
Ability to see, hear, write, and speak clearly in order to communicate with customers and health care professionals.
Excellent planning, organizing and leadership skills.
Ability to work on call or be in an on call rotation.
Coordinating and supervising the daily activities of operations or business staff.
Administering and exercising policies and procedures.
Ensuring employees operate within guidelines.
Decisions have a direct impact to work unit operations and customers.
Frequently interacts with subordinates, customers, and peer groups at various management levels.
Interactions normally involve information exchange and basic problem resolution.

Nice To Haves

IV certified or ability to obtain certification preferred
Hospital/Inpatient experience highly preferred.
Pharmacist in charge or pharmacy management experience highly preferred.
Vendor credentialing may be required

Responsibilities

Plans, coordinates, directs and evaluates all clinical activities as delegated by the Director of Pharmacy, including supervision of refilling machines, medical prescriptions database entries and dispatch of medicines.
Plans, coordinates, directs and evaluates all administrative activities as delegated by the Director of Pharmacy, including scheduling of pharmacy technicians tasks, monitoring process compliance and monthly reporting.
Implements process and procedures to comply with regulations for medicine handling including reception and storage of medicines, inventory and expenses controls.
Manages day to day activities of the pharmacy technicians and monitors their performance to meet departmental goals.
In the absence of medicines, communicates with nursing, doctors and administrative areas to provide alternatives and also makes and/or supervises preparation of interveinal drugs.
Maintains pharmacist’s certifications and maintenance of database privileges and access controls to medical records.
Provides pharmaceutical care to patients as a staff pharmacist.
Assesses and maintains pharmacy inventory and executes necessary orders, including reviews, to maintain optimal supply and ongoing availability of drugs, identifying and procuring alternative drugs to mitigate risks, when necessary.
Leads processes for hiring of pharmacy staff, onboarding, and performance management, including leadership of competency evaluations process and documentation.
Manages internal workflows of acute pharmacy, including optimization of staffing and scheduling to maintain best-in-class and streamlined pharmacy operations.
Participates in meetings and provides insight to hospital committees to ensure coordination among cross-functional groups.
Assists in execution of plans for lowering costs, increasing efficiency and driving profitable growth to support strategic business objectives in the acute pharmacy business.
Assumes responsibility for Quality Assurance monitoring and completing End of the Month reports as assigned by the Director of Pharmacy.
