About The Position

Family Health Centers of San Diego is looking for a Pharmacy Manager who ensures the efficient and profitable operation of the Pharmacy department.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related field required.
  • California Pharmacy Technician License OR Pharmacist License required.
  • Formal training as Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacist required.
  • Basic computer literacy ability to comply with department needs and expectations (i.e., electronic medical record documentation, obtaining background information and reports on patients, following up on appointments, etc.).
  • Traveling between sites and other locations is occasionally required. Must have a valid California driver’s license, an automobile, and proof of minimum levels of car insurance as required under California law, although limits of $100,000 are recommended. An acceptable driving record is also required. California law requires all drivers to obtain a valid California driver’s license within ten days of establishing residency. Reasonable accommodation may be provided on a case-by-case basis. Mileage and other reimbursement governed by policy.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as resource for medical/provider staff. Advises medical/pharmacy director regarding California pharmacy law.
  • Acts as “ Pharmacy Manager” and "Pharmacist in Charge” is responsible for dispensing medication and ensuring Pharmacy compliance with State Board of Pharmacy regulations.
  • Assist in the development of new programs and procedures in accordance with the future goals of the health center.
  • Assists in the development of policies and procedures related to drug procurement, storage, repackaging and dispensing of medications; advises Clinic Directors regarding staff training related to these policies and procedures.
  • Builds positive relationships, inspires others to perform at a higher level, prepares career development plans and retains an accountable workforce.
  • Coaches and counsels staff and administers appropriate disciplinary action in a timely manner.
  • Insures physical security of Pharmacy & medication.
  • Insures staff compliance with Pharmacy policies and procedures.
  • Manages Pharmacy daily operations, including staff coverage, housekeeping, receiving patient payments and reporting sales, routine medication inventory and accounting, and other similar duties. Process drug shipments, including unpacking, affixing price stickers, stocking of shelves and refrigerator, and paper work on invoices. Maintain inventory of pharmaceuticals and supplies, storing under proper conditions of refrigeration and security, and re-order as needed.
  • Participates in continuous improvement activities and ensures appropriate Lean tools (i.e., 5S, A3) are deployed and results are evaluated and/or measured.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Performs technical Pharmacy duties within scope of licensure.
  • Provides/ensures staff receive all new hire and annual trainings on time.
  • Reports monthly to medical/pharmacy director regarding Pharmacy operations or other Pharmacy issues.
  • Responsible for ordering and maintaining inventory--works closely with Pharmacist, Pharmacy Director, and other staff to ensure cost-effective purchasing.
