About The Position

The Pharmacy Liaison will assist the clinical pharmacy team in managing prescriptions and patients with financial guidance. This will consist of running test claims to check for prior authorization requirements, test-claims to assess copays, and communicating with patients to ensure affordable copays and timely access to medications. They will also assist with the Disproportionate Share Hospital’s 340B drug pricing program integrity on the hospital side (split billing and in-house retail pharmacy). This includes, but is not limited to regularly performing monthly, quarterly, and annual audits, assisting with purchasing and inventory functions and compiling reports. Will assist the Pharmacy Operations Manager and Director of Pharmacy with special projects or reporting.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or equivalent
  • 3 years of experience in the health care setting required.
  • Colorado Pharmacy Technician License Required
  • Pharmacy Technician Board Certification (CPhT) required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with specialty medications, patient assistance, and assisting with affordability of medications preferred.
  • Knowledge of purchasing, inventory control, distribution, and cost/price analysis preferred.
  • Experience with 340B software and auditing preferred.
  • 340B ACE certification preferred.
  • 340B Apexus Training Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Ensure accuracy, appropriate destination pharmacy, and communication with patients regarding prescription updates.
  • Collaborate with clinical pharmacy team to ensure access to specialty medications.
  • Work on affordability and grant processes to determine if medication is covered for patients.
  • Support pharmacy operations by coordinating prescription transfers, inventory management, delivery, refill requests, and prescription fulfillment.
  • Assists in development of additional policies and procedures as the 340B program evolves with new regulations and legislature.
  • Maintains third party administrator system databases to reflect changes in drug formulary or products.
  • Manage purchasing, receiving, and inventory control processes for central fill pharmacy.
  • Continuously monitor product minimums to balance product availability and inventory control.
  • Perform annual inventory and monthly cycle counts.
  • Perform monthly DSCSA audits to verify compliance with the Drug Supply Chain Security Act requirements, including transaction documentation and medication traceability.
  • Maintain accurate records of DSCSA transaction histories, statements, and transaction information in accordance with regulatory standards.
  • Ensure compliance with the 340B program requirements of qualified patients, drugs, providers, vendors, payers, and locations.
  • Follow existing 340B policy and procedure.
  • Contribute to 340B quarterly meetings and discussion.
  • Observe ordering processes integrating current pricing from the wholesaler and ensuring split billing chooses the correct product for the patient at the correct time.
  • Ensure appropriate wholesaler accounts are invoiced and can be matched in third-party administrator system.
  • Ensure compliance with GPO prohibition.
  • Downloads, completes, and documents self-audits of the 340B process.
  • Coordinates and ensures remediation of findings.
  • Accountable agent for 340B Compliance.
  • Day-to-day manager and liaison with 340B administrators.
  • Assist with additional reporting or tasks as specified by the director of pharmacy or pharmacy operations manager.
  • Performs as a back-up to main campus and off-site clinic locations as needed.
