About The Position

The Pharmacy Level 2 Tech practices the profession of pharmacy in an environment whose philosophy and policies promote patient care. The role requires a friendly approach and remarkable customer service to support overall patient health. The technician interacts with patients, promotes pharmacy initiatives and clinical services, enters customer and prescription information, prepares prescription labels, processes insurance claims, retrieves and stocks medications, completes prescription and drug-order paperwork, and orders prescription medication. The role also involves maintaining an orderly pharmacy and protecting patient confidentiality.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Registered and/or licensed as required in the state of practice.
Retail/community practice experience or knowledge.
Excellent customer service skills.
Positive attitude.
Proficient typing skills.
Neat and legible penmanship.
Organizational and prioritization skills.
Teamwork.
Reliable attendance.
Basic math skills.
Licensed in the respective state if required; otherwise, successful completion of Meijer employer-based training.

Responsibilities

Interact with patients at various service points of contact.
Promote pharmacy initiatives and clinical services to customers.
Input customer and prescription information into the pharmacy dispensing system.
Create prescription labels and adjudicate insurance claims.
Retrieve the appropriate medication from inventory.
Complete paperwork related to filling prescriptions and receiving drug orders.
Order prescription medication for the Pharmacy Department.
Stock prescription medication.
Maintain a clean and orderly pharmacy for a professional appearance.
Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
Prioritize workload and communicate effectively as an agent of change.
