About The Position

This job is responsible for coordinating drug purchases for hospitals and associated departments within the health system. Responsible inventory best practices and standard operating procedures pharmacy department and ensures appropriate levels of inventory are maintained and available. Prepares for physical inventory and supports the physical inventory day activities. Ensures the pharmacy maintains inventory compliance with state and local laws and organizes files and retains all invoices/receipts/return authorizations inventory activities. Serves as a liaison between system centralized buyers and local hospital team members to facilitate inventory management concerns.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion professional pharmacy training program
  • 2 years Pharmacy or Retail related experience
  • Pharmacy Tech Certification in the state of practice
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Must have computer skills and skilled required for data entry and retrieval data information.
  • Ability to coordinate diverse information into management data and reports.
  • Strong problem solving and math skills.
  • Must have a positive attitude, be energetic and flexible.
  • Familiarity with inventory software.
  • Effective Leadership and teaching skills are required.
  • Must be knowledgeable in Microsoft Suite Program.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate or Bachelors' Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Pharmacy Wholesaler Buyer University – Completed within 6 months of hire

Responsibilities

  • Works with system centralized buyers and pharmacy leadership to maintain appropriate inventory levels are available, while ensuring local inventory financial opportunities are captured.
  • Communicates with system centralized buyers and pharmacy leadership to ensure capture local inventory financial opportunities.
  • Responsible for executing, monitoring, and training inventory best practices and standard operating procedures for the entire pharmacy department, ensuring the pharmacy maintains inventory compliance with state laws regarding pharmacy inventory and compliance of DSCSA.
  • Helps to prepare for annual physical inventory and supports the physical inventory day activities, including but not limited to pharmacy stockroom and medication inventory.
  • Supports pharmacy inventory management activities, including receiving, cycle counts, wholesaler order errors, and facilitating returns.
  • Manages product expiration process and stocks products on shelves by expiration priority, while organizing all invoices/receipts/return authorizations as necessary.
  • Pharmacy inventory activities including but not limited to pharmacy recalls following Hazardous Pharmaceutical Waste Disposal policy, vendor returns, non-controlled, and damaged salvage returns.
  • Responsible for reviewing programs and the proper use of reports and system applications, which have an impact on the accuracy pharmacy on-hand inventory and pricing.
  • Will work with system centralized buyers to ensure accuracies with 340B split billing software, wholesaler, and inventory management system.
  • Attends trainings for continuous development and completes all e-learning modules including inventory software updates and changes.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Remains knowledgeable on current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility and ensures compliance with all such laws, regulations and standards.
