About The Position

Sentara is hiring an Inventory Planner Pharmacy Technician at Norfolk General Hospital for the Specialty Case Management Pharmacy. This is a Full Time position (40 Hours/week) with day shifts, typically 8 hours rotating between 8 am-6 pm. Hours may vary to meet Pharmacy staffing needs, including occasional weekends. The Pharmacy Tech Inventory Planner performs inventory management responsibilities for the pharmacy under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist or licensed independent practitioner. This role demonstrates ownership of all pharmacy buyer functions, advanced technical skills, and the ability to work independently. The position assumes local and/or system responsibility for assigned tasks, participates in training new employees, and provides peer coaching. Key duties include filling and delivering medications, ensuring adequate supplies and medications are available, triaging and escalating issues, using appropriate systems for patient and financial information, maintaining quality assurance, and operating pharmacy equipment. Additional duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Virginia Pharmacy Tech License (Required)
  • CPhT License (Received through the NHA or PTCB) (Required)
  • 2 Years of Pharmacy Experience (Required)

Responsibilities

  • Performs inventory management responsibilities for the pharmacy under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist or licensed independent practitioner.
  • Demonstrates ownership of all pharmacy buyer functions.

  • Demonstrates the ability to competently work independently.
  • Assumes local and/or system responsibility for assigned tasks.
  • Participates in the training of new employees.
  • Provides peer coaching and constructive feedback to other colleagues in a professional and productive manner.
  • Fills and delivers medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist/licensed independent practitioner.
  • Ensures adequate supplies and medications are available for continuous patient care.
  • Triages and escalates any questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician's scope of practice as needed.
  • Uses appropriate systems for processing patient and financial information.
  • Ensures quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirements.
  • Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately.
  • Training in Pharmacy Inventory job functions.
