About The Position

This position supports the Pharmacy department by completing assigned projects, performing quality assurance functions, preparing medications for dispensing, compounding IV medications and TPN solutions, refilling tackle boxes, preparing narcotic deliveries, and assisting with inventory maintenance and control. The intern will also ensure compliance with legal requirements and assist in maintaining Pyxis stock. Texas Health Alliance is a 151-bed, full-service hospital located in North Fort Worth, providing trusted care since 2012. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
  • Other valid intern registration card from the Texas State Board of Pharmacy Upon Hire
  • 1 year of professional inpatient acute care experience strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Complete projects as assigned by Director of Pharmacy.
  • Perform regularly assigned quality assurance functions.
  • Prepare medications for dispensing.
  • Compound IV medications, TPN solutions, etc. following aseptic technique and policies and procedures (if trained in SPL).
  • Accurately and promptly refill each tackle box (if trained in satellites).
  • Prepare narcotic delivery for pharmacist review (if trained in narcotics area).
  • Complete all paperwork without errors.
  • Assist in meeting legal requirements of the pharmacy and hospital.
  • Perform pharmacy tasks in compliance with laws, rules and regulations.
  • Perform Pyxis stock maintenance functions.
  • Prepare medications for delivery to Pyxis machines in a prompt and accurate manner.
  • Deliver medications promptly to ensure access to medications by nurses, respiratory therapists, other appropriate personnel.
  • Restock returned medications to carousel.
  • Assist in inventory maintenance and control.
