About The Position

This role is for a Pharmacy Intern at Vanderbilt University Medical Center's East Pharmacy. The intern will perform tasks in direct support of pharmacists, contributing to the preparation and dispensing of medications under direct supervision. Responsibilities include providing customer service by answering and triaging phone calls, and applying departmental processes for inventory control. This is a fast-paced, patient-facing role that involves patient counseling and education, delivering medications to patients' bedsides, and collaborating with a large pharmacy team. The position requires active enrollment in a school of pharmacy (P1 or P2 considered).

Requirements

Must be actively enrolled in a school of pharmacy.
P1 or P2 will be considered.
Relevant Work Experience: Less than 1 year
Education: High School Diploma or GED
Pharmaceutical Drug Preparation, Dispensing & Distribution (Novice)
Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance & Compliance (Novice)
Pharmaceutical Computer Literacy (Fundamental Awareness)
Drug Inventory & Records Management (Fundamental Awareness)

Nice To Haves

Experience in patient counseling and education.
Experience with face-to-face meds-to-beds delivery.
Collaboration with a large pharmacy team.

Responsibilities

Assists the pharmacist in the preparation, dispensing and/or distribution of medications.
Applies departmental processes regarding inventory control.
Performs activities as directed by Pharmacists and/or Pharmacy Managers in accordance with federal, state and local laws/regulations and hospital policies.
Delivers outstanding customer service to both internal and external customers.
Operates computer systems and utilizes technology.
Provides customer service by answering phone requests and triaging calls to the appropriate person if they cannot answer the requested information.
Applies departmental processes regarding inventory control.
