Pharmacy Intern
About The Position
This role involves performing the duties of a staff pharmacist under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Responsibilities include maintaining proper narcotic documentation, ensuring the correct distribution of narcotic medications, and overseeing the appropriate selection, administration, and monitoring of medications. The intern will also dispense medications accurately for delivery to patient care areas, potentially compounding medications, and assisting pharmacists with patient profiles. Additionally, the role includes providing medication information and education to medical staff and patients.
Requirements
- High school diploma equivalency OR Enrolled in accredited program specific to discipline required.
Responsibilities
- Perform the duties of a staff pharmacist under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Under direct supervision, maintain proper narcotic documentation and ensures proper distribution of narcotic medications.
- Under direct supervision, ensure appropriate selection of dosing, administering and monitoring of medication.
- Dispense medications accurately for delivery to patient care areas. May compound medications.
- Assist pharmacists with maintaining and monitoring patient profiles.
- Provide medication information and education to medical staff and patients.
