Pharmacy Interns perform the professional functions associated with the practice of Pharmacy. Interns work under the supervision of a registered pharmacist in accordance with the rules and regulations of the State Board of Pharmacy. The pharmacy intern must demonstrate growth and development of knowledge required to access data reflective of the patient's status, interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements and to provide the pharmaceutical care needed, appropriate to the age of the patient and in accordance with appropriate policies and procedures. The intern must demonstrate competency in the nuances between acute and ambulatory/home infusion patients. Pharmacy staff is responsible for ensuring that all departmental and institutional aspects of regulatory compliance are adhered to. The employee must comply with all federal and state standards, with an emphasis on preventing fraud and abuse.
