Pharmacy Intern - Medical Center East
About The Position
Performs tasks within the pharmacy in direct support of a pharmacist’s ongoing duties, with occasional guidance. Tasks contribute directly to preparing and/or dispensing final dosage forms for patient administration and are directly supervised by a pharmacist. Provides customer service by answering phone requests and directing calls to the appropriate person when unable to answer the request. Applies departmental inventory-control processes. The position operates computer systems and technology and performs activities as directed by pharmacists and/or pharmacy managers in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and hospital policies. Additional duties may be assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Less than one year of relevant work experience.
- Basic knowledge of pharmacy systems and procedures.
- Ability to perform assigned tasks under pharmacist supervision and follow applicable rules, regulations, and policies.
Responsibilities
- Assist the pharmacist in preparing, dispensing, and/or distributing medications.
- Apply departmental inventory-control processes.
- Perform activities as directed by pharmacists and/or pharmacy managers in accordance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations and hospital policies.
- Deliver customer service to internal and external customers, including answering phone requests and directing calls when needed.
- Operate computer systems and utilize technology.
