About The Position

This is a part-time casual (as needed) position at Grady Memorial Hospital. The candidate must be enrolled in pharmacy school and have an intern license. The role requires working every other weekend, participating in the holiday rotation, and being available to pick up additional hours during summer and winter breaks. Under the direct supervision of a licensed Pharmacist, the intern performs assigned functions of the department according to established procedures. Based on ability, experience, and performance, the intern will perform increasingly judgmental activities of a pharmacist as permitted by State Board of Pharmacy rules and regulations. The intern gains practical experience necessary to function competently and effectively upon licensure.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma.
  • Must be actively enrolled in a College of Pharmacy.
  • Must have active Ohio Pharmacy Intern License.
  • Registration with the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Intern.
  • Actively pursuing licensure as a Registered Pharmacist through completion of academic and/or post-graduate Experience requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • P1 in a 4-year program, or P1-P3 in a 6-year program.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain, prepare, and label pharmacy products according to department policy for final distribution.
  • Under the direction of a registered pharmacist, review and interpret orders for pharmacy products needed for patient care, perform any necessary interventions, and process according to department policy and procedure.
  • Produce billing, monitoring, and usage documentation of pharmacy products for proper billing and inventory purposes.
  • Maintain sufficient inventory of pharmacy products to enable efficient distribution.
  • Provide information via phone/in person to other healthcare professionals and/or customers.
  • Submit medication charge data to assure proper reimbursement.
  • May assist in training technicians, externs and interns in technical aspects of duties.
  • Participate in special projects when necessary.
  • As a High Reliability Organization (HRO), responsibilities require focus on safety, quality and efficiency in performing job duties.
