About The Position

Kindred Hospital Seattle – First Hill is an 80-bed long-term acute care hospital offering the same in depth care you would receive in a traditional hospital, but for an extended recovery period. We partner with your physician and offer 24-hour clinical care seven days a week so you can start your journey to wellness. We are located in the heart of downtown Seattle, surrounded by a number of shops and restaurants within walking distance. Assists with medication preparation, repacking, and dispensing under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Supports medication reconciliation and clinical monitoring to assure medications are safe and effective. Adheres to state and federal regulations.

Requirements

  • Good math and science skills
  • Must read, write and speak fluent English.
  • Must have good and regular attendance.
  • Actively enrolled in or graduate of ACPE accredited college of pharmacy or FPEGC certification.
  • Pharmacy Intern Licensure as required by the state.
  • BCLS certification.
  • Basic understanding of the role of and use of a computer in the processing of prescription orders with minimum word processing skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Pharmacy Technician in a hospital pharmacy setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists Pharmacist to prepare and dispense medication.
  • Prepares and delivers medications to patient care units as appropriate.
  • Restocks and manages expiration dating in automated medication dispensing machine inventory.
  • Orders and stores medications.
  • Properly unit doses medications that do not come prepackaged.
  • Processes records of medication dispensed to patient, computes charges, and generates required computer reports as needed. Performs backup procedures correctly.
  • Monitors drug therapy for appropriateness under the supervision of the licensed pharmacist.
  • Provides and documents clinical interventions, therapy recommendations, and other clinical activities according to department policy and procedure and state regulations.
  • Participates in the Medication Reconciliation activities of the Pharmacy Department.
  • Prepares sterile and non-sterile compounds per USP standards.
  • Maintains positive relationships with all customers.
  • Complies with regulatory and accreditation standards.
