About The Position

This is a part-time casual (as needed) position at Marion General Hospital. Candidate must be enrolled in Pharmacy School. Under the direct supervision of a licensed Pharmacist, performs any or all of the functions of the department as assigned according to established procedure. Based on ability, experience, and performance, performs the increasingly judgmental activities of a pharmacist pursuant to State Board of Pharmacy rules and regulations. Under supervision, gains the practical experience necessary to function competently and effectively upon licensure.

Requirements

• High School Diploma.
• Registration with The State of Ohio Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Intern
• Actively pursuing licensure as a Registered Pharmacist through completion of academic and/or post-graduate experience requirements.
• Active enrollment in a College of Pharmacy, or for international pharmacy graduates, satisfactorily passed the FPGEE and the TSE or TOEFL-ibt (these are completed through the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy [NABP]).
• Must have an active intern license prior to employment.

Responsibilities

• Obtain, prepare, and label pharmacy products according to department policy for final distribution.
• Under the direction of a registered pharmacist, review and interpret orders for pharmacy products needed for patient care, perform any necessary interventions, and process according to department policy and procedure.
• Produce billing, monitoring, and usage documentation of pharmacy products for proper billing and inventory purposes.
• Maintain sufficient inventory of pharmacy products to enable efficient distribution.
• Provide information via phone/in person to other healthcare professionals and/or customers.
• Submit medication charge data to assure proper reimbursement.
• May assist in training technicians, externs and interns in technical aspects of duties.
• Participate in special projects when necessary.
• As a High Reliability Organization (HRO), responsibilities require focus on safety, quality and efficiency in performing job duties.
