About The Position

Assists pharmacists with daily pharmacy operations in a supportive role, under the pharmacist’s direct supervision. Providing coverage in multiple areas: infusion, retail, and investigational drug services at all locations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent high school certification or combination of education and/or experience.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - American Heart Association, Basic Life Support - American Heart Association, Basic Life Support - American Red Cross, Certified Pharmacy Technician - Pharmacy Technician Certification Board
  • No specific work experience is required for this position.
  • Currently enrolled full time and in good academic standing in an accredited School of Pharmacy (enrolled in Pre-Professional curriculum).
  • Basic Life Support certification (Online BLS certifications, those without a skills assessment component, are not sufficient to meet the BLS requirements).

  • One of more years of experience in pharmacy operations or completion of one year of pharmacy school.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and compounds complex sterile parenteral products including cytotoxic and hazardous medications using proper aseptic technique, assuring continuous quality control during medication preparation.
  • Performs required calculations, verification of doses, accurate preparation, dispense-prep, labelling and dispensing of medications. Includes timely delivery of finished products to nursing staff and patients.
  • Processing retail prescriptions including but not limited to: typing, filling, submitting overrides for insurance claims, calling insurance companies, communicating with provider teams, operating a cash register, collecting patient copays, providing excellent customer service, coordinating prescription deliveries for patients, and filing paperwork.
  • Assisting with Inventory management tasks including but not limited to rotating stock, unpacking orders, restocking, checking for expired or recalled medications, filling automated dispensing machines, completing inventory reports.
  • Assists pharmacists with any requested pharmacy duties, answer telephone, responds to nursing, provider team staff, or patients.
  • Ensures pharmacy is kept neat, clean, and orderly.
  • Maintains compliance with quality assurance monitoring programs including but not limited to temperature monitoring of pharmacy room temperature, refrigerators and freezers.
  • Participates in pharmacy continuing educational programs, seminars, and all required training and certifications to maintain job status and/or pharmacy licensure as required by law.
