About The Position

Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is seeking a Pharmacy Intern for the Retail Support Group. This role operates within a mail-order, closed-door pharmacy environment and does not involve dispensing medication. The intern will perform tasks in direct support of pharmacists, contributing to the preparation and/or dispensing of final dosage forms under direct supervision. Responsibilities include providing customer service, triaging phone calls, and applying departmental inventory control processes. Requirements

Must be actively enrolled in a school of pharmacy.
Pharmaceutical Drug Preparation, Dispensing & Distribution (Novice)
Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance & Compliance (Novice)
Pharmaceutical Computer Literacy (Fundamental Awareness)
Drug Inventory & Records Management (Fundamental Awareness)
Relevant Work Experience
Less than 1 year of experience
High School Diploma or GED

Responsibilities

Assists the pharmacist in the preparation, dispensing and/or distribution of medications.
Applies departmental processes regarding inventory control.
Performs activities as directed by Pharmacists and/or Pharmacy Managers in accordance with federal, state and local laws/regulations and hospital policies.
Delivers outstanding customer service to both internal and external customers.
Operates computer systems and utilizes technology.
Provides customer service by answering phone requests and triaging calls to the appropriate person if they cannot answer the requested information.
Applies departmental processes regarding inventory control.
