About The Position

The Harborview Pharmacy Department has an outstanding opportunity for a Pharmacy Intern - Year Two. This role involves assisting pharmacists in professional activities and performing assigned tasks under direct supervision. The intern will engage in the preparation and packaging of medications and other pharmacist-related functions.

Requirements

  • Open only to currently enrolled students in the UW School of Pharmacy
  • Certification as a Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacist Intern with the Washington State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Pre-employment drug screen

Responsibilities

  • Perform certified order entry of medication orders from the outpatient pharmacy computer.
  • Perform filling of prescriptions utilizing ScriptPro Central for filling, labeling and batching.
  • Assist on-line processing of prescription orders.
  • Assist patients with new and refill prescription orders.
  • Perform charging and billing functions, including third-party billing and collection of payments and co-payments.
  • Staff in satellite clinic pharmacy areas.
  • Package medications into single-unit packages.
  • Package patient specific medications in single-unit packages.
  • Maintain neat and accurate packaging records.
  • Fill Ward Stock Requisition sheets for nursing units.
  • Fill medications from Pyxis refill sheets for the entire hospital.
  • Perform certified checking of Pyxis refill and IV batches.
  • Perform computer functions including label printing, charge/credit data, and order entry of prescriptions.
  • Delivery of medications and IV admixtures to nursing units or other areas of the hospital.
  • Prepare IV admixtures using proper aseptic technique in an accurate, efficient and timely manner.
  • Maintain current aseptic technique certification.
