This role is for a Graduate Pharmacy Intern at CVS Health, focused on transforming healthcare and making the company a great place to work. The intern will support pharmacy teams in retail locations, helping to deliver on the brand promise while developing their own skills for future pharmacist roles. The intern will apply didactic learning to real-world practice under the guidance of a preceptor and District Leader. A comprehensive training roadmap will be completed within 120 days of graduation to enhance knowledge of store, district, and regional operations. Key areas of focus include patient safety, error prevention, quality assurance, drug utilization review (DUR), and professional pharmacy standards. The intern will assist in smooth pharmacy operations, ensuring prompt, safe, and accurate prescription fulfillment, and providing excellent patient service. They will learn to operate as part of the pharmacy team by applying Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), best practices, and effective communication. Empathy, genuine care, and contribution to a safe and inclusive culture are emphasized. As experience grows, the intern will take on greater accountability for pharmacy management, oversight, and operations, including following SOPs, pharmacy workflow procedures, contributing to positive patient experiences, offering counseling, handling medical questions, taking telephonic prescriptions, and providing in-the-moment coaching. Basic inventory activities, contributing to a high-performing team, and remaining flexible for scheduling and business needs are also part of the role. Compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles is required. The intern may also support additional patient healthcare services like immunizations, point-of-care testing, and staffing offsite clinics, where permitted by law and with required training. Specific responsibilities for supporting immunizations include completing licensure and training, educating patients, obtaining informed consent, monitoring for adverse reactions, and reporting them. Reviewing and collecting patient information, tracking, and documenting are also included.
