About The Position

This job is under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist. Maintains and ensures complete and appropriate drug therapy in a multidisciplinary pharmaceutical care environment according to appropriate guidelines. Prepares, dispenses and records medications ordered for an assigned group of patients, using safe, rational and cost-effective therapeutic decision making. Reviews, evaluates and monitors patient drug therapy, provides drug information and patient education, and other clinical pharmacy services. Oversees the day-to-day activities of technical and clerical staff assisting in the above. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Requirements

  • Bachelor of Pharmacy degree (BS Pharm)
  • Eligibility for licensure to practice pharmacy in the State of Louisiana (must acquire licensure within 1 year from date of hire into this job).
  • Computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information.
  • Proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.
  • Proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard
  • Strong interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited College of Pharmacy

Responsibilities

  • Assesses Medications Orders Therapy
  • Prepares and dispenses medications
  • Manages drug therapy to optimize patient outcomes
  • Maintains professional certifications and technical knowledge
  • Manages a variety of projects for the department
  • Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
  • Other related duties as required.
  • Remains knowledgeable on current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility and ensures compliance with all such laws, regulations and standards.
