About The Position

Works in a fast-paced production environment known as an automated Central Fill Pharmacy. Assist pharmacists in the accurate preparation and distribution of prescription medications. This role involves working with co-workers as a team to ensure strict adherence to standard operating procedures and facility policies. The technician will handle inquiries that do not require a pharmacist’s expertise and judgment, and may assist in developing standard operating procedures. They will prepare and affix labels to prescription containers, assist in training employees, and ensure adherence to quality assurance standards. A key aspect of the role is gaining a complete understanding of Hy-Vee’s retail pharmacy operations and offering avenues to better serve them. The technician must report any medication errors to appropriate personnel, order, check-in, and stock pharmacy supplies, and maintain the cleanliness of the pharmacy and dispensing area. Strict adherence to department and company guidelines related to personal hygiene and dress is required, as is adherence to all statutes and regulations pertaining to a pharmacy technician. The role also includes performing mail order call center duties, including data entry to prepare prescription orders, manually counting medication quantities, and replenishing medication cells as needed. Replacing empty medication cells and bringing full cells to robots are also part of the responsibilities. Secondary duties include assisting in other areas as needed and performing other related job duties and special projects.

Requirements

Certified as a licensed technician through a certified national program and maintains continuing education requirements to keep license active.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Commitment to the Hy-Vee Mission and a willingness to promote the values of the company
Strong leadership skills; ability to assist other members of the department.
Must have the ability to do logical or scientific thinking to solve problems; several abstract and concrete variables.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Have the ability to do arithmetic calculations involving arithmetic, algebraic and geometric calculations
Ability to work in a fast paced environment, assisting in the preparation of accurate prescriptions.
Must be able to compose original correspondence; follow technical manuals; have increased contact with people; interview counsel or advise people; evaluate technical data.
Maintains the confidentiality of the customer’s private medical information according to the HIPAA act.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience as a pharmacy technician or pharmacy clerk is preferred.
