About The Position

The Pharmacy Director will lead and oversee all pharmacy operations within the organization, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, and high-quality pharmaceutical services. This role is pivotal in developing strategic initiatives that align with organizational goals while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards. The Pharmacy Director will manage pharmacy staff, optimize workflow processes, and implement best practices to enhance patient care and operational efficiency. They will collaborate closely with healthcare providers, administrators, and external partners to support integrated care models and improve medication management. Ultimately, the Pharmacy Director will drive innovation and continuous improvement to uphold the highest standards of pharmacy practice across all locations.

Requirements

• Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited institution.
• Active and unrestricted pharmacist license in the United States.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive pharmacy experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership or management role.
• Comprehensive knowledge of pharmacy laws, regulations, and accreditation standards.
• Demonstrated experience in budget management and operational oversight within a healthcare setting.
• Leadership and communication skills daily to effectively manage and inspire a diverse team of pharmacy professionals.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills are essential for evaluating operational data, optimizing workflows, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Strong organizational skills enable the director to oversee multiple projects, budgets, and initiatives simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
• Collaboration and interpersonal skills are critical for working with clinical staff, administrators, and external partners to enhance patient care and pharmacy services.
• Proficiency with technology and pharmacy informatics supports the integration of innovative solutions to improve efficiency and safety.

Nice To Haves

• Postgraduate residency training or board certification in a pharmacy specialty.
• Experience working in a hospital, health system, or large multi-site pharmacy environment.
• Proficiency with pharmacy information systems and electronic health records (EHR).
• Strong background in clinical pharmacy services and medication safety programs.
• Advanced leadership training or certification, such as Certified Pharmacy Executive (CPE).

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the pharmacy department, including hiring, training, and evaluating pharmacy staff.

• Oversee medication procurement, inventory management, and distribution to ensure availability and cost-effectiveness.

• Stay current with advancements in pharmacy practice, technology, and regulatory changes to inform departmental strategies.
• Serve as a key liaison between the pharmacy department and other organizational units, fostering effective communication and teamwork.
