About The Position

This position is responsible for safely transporting and delivering prescription medications and medical supplies from the pharmacy to patient homes or healthcare facilities. The role also includes performing regular cleaning and sanitization of pharmacy infusion equipment in accordance with standard operating procedures, ensuring all items are properly cleaned and prepared for patient use in a sterile and safe condition. The driver must adhere to strict protocols for cleaning, storing, and handling infusion equipment, and document all cleaning and maintenance activities. Additionally, the role involves preparing packing slips, gathering supplies for dispensing, preparing FedEx labels, and assisting in maintaining adequate stock levels of pharmacy supplies.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • All must have a current state issued driver’s license, must be active and valid the last three consecutive years.
  • A confirmed driving motor vehicle record (MVR) successfully demonstrating no major violations in the past three consecutive years, no more than one preventable accident with one moving violation in past three years, no more than two minor violations with no at-fault accidents in the past three years.
  • Drivers between the ages of 21 and 25 must have a clean motor vehicle record (no accidents and no tickets received).
  • Experience or knowledge of pharmacy infusion cleaning procedures is required.
  • At least six months of experience in which incumbents regularly interface with customers is essential to perform customer services functions as described.
  • The knowledge and ability to operate smart devices (e.g., smart phone, tablets), computers and hand held scanning devices are required.
  • The ability to read, write and follow written and oral instructions is required to ensure accurate completion of deliveries.
  • The ability to protect and maintain the confidentiality of patient protected health information and follow standard operating procedures to ensure compliance with HQAA and HIPAA is required.
  • The ability to navigate correctly using GPS technology and to navigate a new daily route is required.
  • Good organization and prioritization skills are required to plan and deliver pharmacy supplies and medications.
  • The ability to verbally communicate with patients and care givers in a compassionate and clear manner is required.
  • The ability to work independently, while adhering to strict policies and procedures.
  • Ability to safety operate a motor vehicle (car, truck, van, SUV, etc.).

Nice To Haves

  • Previous delivery or driving experience is preferred.
  • Experience in the healthcare or medical fields preferred.
  • One year of previous delivery experience preferred.
  • Spanish speaking skills are desirable but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Safely transport and deliver prescription medications and medical supplies from the pharmacy to patient’s homes or healthcare facilities, ensuring the correct, secure, and timely delivery of all items.
  • Maintain strict adherence to delivery schedules, meeting deadlines and ensuring safe transport.
  • Observe all traffic laws and driving regulations, ensuring safe driving practices at all times.
  • Adhere to company policies, processes, and procedures regarding vehicle operation, delivery tracking, and documentation.
  • Verify and double-check delivery orders for accuracy before leaving the pharmacy, ensuring all necessary medications and supplies are included.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all patient information, ensuring adherence to HIPAA regulations.
  • Interact with customers in a professional, courteous, and timely manner to provide the highest level of customer service.
  • Follow pre-established delivery routes to ensure efficient time management and timely deliveries.
  • Report any delivery issues, delays, or vehicle malfunctions promptly to dispatch, using either phone or electronic means.
  • Maintain a clean and well-maintained delivery vehicle, regularly inspecting it for safety and cleanliness.
  • Perform regular cleaning and sanitization of pharmacy infusion equipment in accordance with standard operating procedures.
  • Ensure all infusion supplies are properly cleaned and prepared for use, maintaining compliance with infection control standards.
  • Follow strict protocols for the cleaning, storing, and handling of infusion equipment, ensuring all items are ready for patient use in a sterile and safe condition.
  • Document cleaning and maintenance activities, tracking compliance with pharmacy and regulatory standards.
  • Prepare packing slips and gather supplies required for dispensing, utilizing established procedures.
  • Prepare FedEx label for shipment of medications.
  • Assist in maintaining adequate stock levels of supplies (i.e., labels, vials, etc.) in the pharmacy.
  • Communicate needed supplies to be ordered for patient care.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or apparent.
