About The Position

The Pharmacy Customer Service Associate delivers a distinctive customer experience while providing checkout service and assisting the pharmacist under direct supervision and in accordance with state and federal regulations. The role uses pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions, and also supports general store operations, merchandising, photo services, inventory, and customer service. The associate earns and maintains PTCB certification through the designated training program and/or any state-required certification or registration, completes assigned training and continuing education, and maintains current pharmacy and healthcare knowledge. The role requires fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English, except in Puerto Rico, and willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.

• Prior work experience with Walgreens is preferred.
• Good math skills for accurately counting, measuring, and weighing medications are preferred.
• Good computer skills are preferred.
• Knowledge of store inventory control is preferred.
• PTCB certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist customers and patients, answer questions, resolve issues, and model customer-service best practices.
• Provide courteous, friendly, fast, and efficient checkout service; operate the assigned cash register and process purchases, voids, returns, rain checks, refunds, and exchanges.
• Recommend products, trade-up items, and companion items; help customers locate over-the-counter products.
• Keep counters and shelves clean and well merchandised; take inventory, maintain records, check in and price merchandise, and construct and maintain displays.
• Under direct pharmacist supervision, use pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information, fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring medications, verify medication accuracy, and check for possible interactions.
• Assist pharmacists with scheduling and maintaining workflow; immediately report prescription errors and follow company policies and the Quality Improvement Program.
• Comply with the Walgreen Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct and Good Faith Dispensing policy.
• Handle calls that do not require the pharmacist's personal attention, including calls to physicians.
• Correct and resubmit manual third-party prescription claims promptly and perform other assigned clerical duties.
• Support pharmacy inventory management by ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing pharmaceutical shipments; maintain asset-protection practices and file claims for shipment overages, shortages, order errors, or damaged prescription drugs.
• Follow state and local requirements for regulated products, including alcoholic beverages and tobacco.
• Complete resets and revisions; separate and place food products according to policy; rotate consumable stock using first-in, first-out and restock outs.
• Provide customer service in the photo area, including digital passport photos, poster printing, creative-machine services, and promotional photo product recommendations.
• Monitor Picture Care Plus web pickup orders, pick items, and deliver orders to customers when they arrive at the store.
• Help maintain a clean, neat, orderly store inside and outside; comply with company policies and procedures and maintain respectful coworker relationships.
• Complete assigned training and learning modules, earn and maintain applicable PTCB certification or state-required certification/registration, and maintain pharmacy and healthcare knowledge.
• Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.
