About The Position

The 340B program position supports the Pharmacy and Therapeutic Service Lines 340B operations with program oversight in its entirety. The position assists the 340B Program Manager and pharmacy administration with day to day program management, providing oversight to mixed use areas, contract pharmacy, invoice payments, procurement, and ensures policy is upheld. This position is well versed in pharmacy operations and has a good working knowledge of the EMR system. The position supports self-audit practices as well as program audits by outside entities including HRSA. This position assists in accountability for 340B program compliance, maintenance, and testing of split-billing software, and helps ensures appropriate safeguards are in place to maintain program integrity. Other duties include but are not limited to managing purchases, accumulators, receiving and inventory controls. The position also supports 340B cost savings initiatives and works directly with third party administrators for the program. If applicable, the technician 340B supervisor will provide all technician managerial duties.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED plus an undergraduate degree or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 2 years of auditing and analytics experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft products.
  • 1 year to obtain 340B ACE Certification.
  • Computer Skills (i.e., Microsoft Office® and EMR experience)
  • Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Pharmacy Technician License and/or Master’s Degree
  • Work in a specialized technician role (controlled drugs, order entry, pharmacy buyer)
  • Prior supervisory experience.
  • 2+ years of pharmacy experience
  • 340B Apexus Advanced 340B Operations Certificate

Responsibilities

  • Contract maintenance with third parties including new contract pharmacies and wholesalers with UAMS Legal.
  • Perform monthly self-audits of contracted pharmacies and the entity to ensure compliance.
  • Report non-compliance findings to the 340B Oversight Committee
  • Maintain the Office of Pharmacy Affairs website to accurately reflect eligible clinics and ensure compliance.
  • Provide support to contract pharmacies and wholesalers and assist in account set up if needed.
  • Consult with staff and directors to implement programs or workflows that will maximize savings or improve the quality of care to patients.
  • Develop custom recommendations to improve operational efficiency.
  • Analyze drug purchases for the entity to identify saving opportunities to result in best pricing practices and implement purchase changes when needed.
  • Provide hands-on support during an HRSA audit of the entity and lead efforts to address findings if needed.
  • Attend 340B University on a biannual basis or more frequent if needed
  • Work directly with the financial Operational Analysis Supervisor to address inconsistencies when found that require follow-up.
  • Educate/Update outpatient pharmacy employees on the 340B program on a semiannually basis
  • Support 340B education and training for new outpatient pharmacy staff.
  • Fill in staffing as a pharmacy technician in the outpatient pharmacy when needed.
  • Supports procurement and distribution of medications to contract pharmacies.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
