About The Position

Serves to promote outcomes of timely and accurate charging within the Pharmacy by serving as a dedicated resource to the Pharmacy in matters of charge capture. Primarily, by maintaining primary responsibility for the manual entry of charges not driven by clinical and/or system documentation, serving as a key resource for the routine conducting of auditing and reconciliation, and assisting management with matters of process improvement as it relates to charge capture within the Pharmacy. Posts charges to patient accounts that necessitate manual entry (i.e., those charges not driven by clinical and/or system documentation). In doing so, maintains a diligent awareness as to the level of detail required to accurately enter these charges. Additionally, retains primary responsibility for accurately processing necessary credits to pre-existing patient charges as appropriate. In all of these responsibilities, adheres to standards put forth within pertinent Palomar Health procedural documentation. Carries out routine auditing and reconciliation as defined by both Palomar Health procedural documentation and Pharmacy management. As a component of this responsibility, Works closely with appropriate Pharmacy management and leadership to determine ongoing auditing and reconciliation needs as well as the manner by which those needs may best be addressed. Proactively seeks to contribute to the ongoing improvement of the processes by which Pharmacy charges are entered by communicating to Pharmacy leadership barriers and inefficiencies which arise in the course of carrying out job responsibilities. Clearly documents these barriers and inefficiencies as well as their effects. Additional responsibilities include: Communicates with PharmNet DBC as appropriate to document technical issues existing as barriers to timely and accurate charging; Maintains responsibility for the tracking of floor stock charges and subsequent communication of these figures to Finance; Maintains an ongoing awareness of timely charge entry and its affect upon the organization's financial health.; Assists PharmNet DBC as necessary in matters of accurate billing, charging, crediting and the underlying system foundations; and, fosters an ongoing awareness of Pharmacy terminologies, practices and materials as needed to most effectively carry out job requirements and evolving expectations. Speak and read English at a level that is sufficient to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the position. Knowledge of standard office equipment (i.e., calculator, fax, photocopier) and personal computer and computer software skills (i.e., MS Windows, Excel, Access, Word, Powerpoint, internet, e-mail). Windows computer skills including proficient use of keyboarding, use of mouse or keys for functions such as selecting items, use of drop down menus, scroll bars, opening folders, copying and similar operations required upon employment or within the 1st two weeks of employment to perform the essential functions of the job. Performs other duties as assigned. Follows Palomar Health rules, policies, procedures, applicable laws and standards. Carries out the mission, vision, and quality commitment of Palomar Health.

Requirements

  • Speak and read English at a level that is sufficient to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the position.
  • Knowledge of standard office equipment (i.e., calculator, fax, photocopier) and personal computer and computer software skills (i.e., MS Windows, Excel, Access, Word, Powerpoint, internet, e-mail).
  • Windows computer skills including proficient use of keyboarding, use of mouse or keys for functions such as selecting items, use of drop down menus, scroll bars, opening folders, copying and similar operations required upon employment or within the 1st two weeks of employment to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Minimum 6 months working with pharmacy charging services
  • Basic proficiency with Excel (i.e. score of 80% or higher on 'Normal User' proficiency exam)
  • CA Pharmacy Technician License
