About The Position

Saint Luke's Hospital is seeking a Pharmacy Buyer to join its team. Under the supervision of a pharmacist, this position handles a broad range of purchasing functions, including electronic drug purchasing, receiving orders, charge-credit processing, and meeting with drug representatives. The buyer purchases pharmaceuticals and supplies in accordance with departmental and SLHS policies and procedures. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of applicable experience.
• Pharmacy Technician - Various Diploma.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze purchasing documents, consulting with departments about requirements, specifications, quantities, and delivery requirements.
• Maintain cost-effective purchasing practices and identify appropriate alternatives for medications that are in shortage, on backorder, or high-dollar.
• Place direct purchase orders with pharmaceutical and supply vendors, including possible negotiation of pricing and delivery.
• Work with the prime wholesaler to ensure compliance with contract terms and conditions.
• Inform supervisors and staff about critical drug shortages and backorders.
• Resolve invoice discrepancies involving price or quantity received, and process adjustments for damaged or incorrect shipments.
• Coordinate removal and return of recalled drug products.
• Keep current with regulations and federal laws governing the 340B drug pricing program and implement changes as necessary to maintain compliance at 340B-eligible facilities.
