About The Position

Responsible for the procurement function of the department. Responsible for the efficient, accurate and timely ordering, receiving, and controlling inventories for all pharmaceuticals and supplies used or issued by the Pharmacy department. Assists in the preparation, packaging, delivering, and charging of medication orders, under the supervision of the pharmacist. Prepares and delivers IV sterile products. Involved with Pharmacy quality assurance activities and assists the pharmacists in performing various duties. Reports to the Director of Pharmacy.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Previous hospital pharmacy experience preferred.
Basic computer skills required.
Proficiency in Microsoft applications.
Current Florida Registered Pharmacy Technician licensure required.
Pharmacy Technician certification or equivalent IV experience required.

Responsibilities

Places daily vendor orders for pharmaceuticals in timely manner.
Reviews and checks accuracy of all orders and requisitions.
Reports price discrepancies to the Director of Pharmacy.
Coordinates all product returns with wholesaler or vendors.
Reviews backorders and arranges purchase from alternate vendors.
Responds appropriately to requests for STAT orders, routine orders, and departmental requisitions, and ADC stock out bulletins.
Accurately re-stocks ADCs in a timely manner.
Prepares sterile IV preparations in accurate manner consistent with IV policies and procedures. (USP 797)
Assists in preparing for physical inventory.
Maintains stock items at established levels to avoid out of stock and adheres to contracts and formulary requirements.
Maintains proper records of purchase orders, returns, outdated meds, recall meds, catalogs and inter-hospital transfers.
Processes pharmaceutical invoices and other billing receipts or purchase orders and forwards to the Director of Pharmacy for signature and approvals in timely manner.
Completes assigned monthly inspections, ensures medication integrity, documents appropriately.
Maintains Quality Assurance logs with proper timely documentation and files in appropriate location; notifies Supervisor of any deviations from standards.
Seeks cost savings opportunities and identifies purchasing areas of improvement.
